Wahid Rahim Jr.

Wahid, affectionately known as “Wah Wah,”

Born August 6, 2012. Has been boxing since the age of 6. He sat on the sidelines watching has father, Wahid Rahim Sr., Train Stephen Fulton, otherwise known as “Cool Boy Steph”. He watched as Stephen got better and better and got excited! He also saw kids, his age, boxing one another, hitting the bag, and dying inside to ask his dad to let him do it. Wah Wah respected the fact that his dad was at work and fought himself, daily, to ask to let him box. So, he did what any other boy, in his
situation would do, he asked his mom. The mom coached him on how to ask her husband if he could train Wahid. One day…he got the courage. He told his dad he wanted to be Boxer. His dad told him that he’s going to have to sacrifice being a normal kid because the work that goes into it is going to be intense. Little Wahid said he doesn’t care what it takes… he wants to fight, I’m ready to work, and be the best!! Wahid told his dad he had a dream. He told him about the dream he had, winning the Golden Glove Belt. His dad told him, “Let’s start with that as a goal and see where it goes from there.” Wah Wah trained as his dad helped train Danny Garcia, the Former Unified Super Light Weight Champion and the Former WBC Welterweight Champion and mimicked his shadowboxing.

Now he’s training 6 Days a week, and his diet has totally changed. His dad told him, as long as he continues to get good grades, he’s here to make him great. His dad told him he is gonna provide him with the best of everything like the other fighters he trains, and he kept his word. His dad showed him what a jab was, what an uppercut was, what a combo is, how to hit the bag, what footwork is, what breathing technique means. Wah Wah was in love with the sport of boxing. He looked good, he felt good. Now it’s 2019 and Cool Boy Steph had a big “Showtime” fight at the Barclay Center. The whole family went and Wah Wah was beyond himself. Seeing his dad up there and seeing Cool Boy Steph, who people call “Scooter,” fighting like he never saw him fight made him tell his dad to get him ready for the Golden Gloves!

Fast forward to 2023, Wah Wah tells his dad he wants to fight on his birthday! His dad remembers the conversation and keeps training him and started looking for the Golden Glove fight. Wahid Sr. finds the Golden Glove for that year. It was in Orlando Florida, and his dad scheduled for his first fight and it’s a national tournament, and didn’t tell him!! His dad told him they were going to Orlando for his birthday. He sneaks the gear in his suitcase and they’re off! Wahid tells Wah Wah that he can’t swim right now and that he has a surprise for him. Wahid begs to know what he’s talking about. His mom was splitting at the seams trying to keep it from him. The morning of, Wahid tells Wah Wah,” We’re going to the Golden Glove and you’re fighting!!” Wahid had his first bout and Won, second bout and won, and the third win would make him the Golden Glove Champion… he won!!
